"The wars of the next century will not be about land or religion or oil, but will be about water."

     Jill Greenhalgh and Mike Brookes started their Water[war]s project in response to this statement. The first preformance was in Novi Sad, Yugoslavia in June 2000. Since then there have been seven more in five different countries including Australia, Columbia, Denmark, United States of America and Yugoslavia. This last performance, project 8 was developed and staged at the annual encuentro of the Hemispheric Institute of Performance and Politics in July 2003 in New York.
