DIRECTORS
Jill
Greenhalgh
is from Wales. Since 1986 she has been the Artistic Director
of The Magdalena Project, an international network of women in contemporary
theatre. Water [war]s is a project she has been developing
for a long time with Mike Brookes. She had been commissioned
for Infant Novi Sad, Yugoslavia 2000, and Transit Odin Theatre,
Denmark 2001, Silkeborg, and the performance and installation work
Water[war]s: act 3 exhibited Silkeborg, Denmark 2002. Versions
4, 5,and 6 to take place in Colombia, Belgrade and Australia 2002-2003.
Currently, she is teaching in the department of Performance Studies
at the University of Wales Averystwyth.
Mike
Brookes began his career as a painter and has
increasingly reconnected his work with performance. In recent
years his work has focused largely upon the holistic production
of durational objects, environments, and contexts, in which he integrates
elements as diverse as photography, large-scale projection, short-range
and satellite radiobroadcast technology, mobile telecommunications
helicopters and monitoring equipment. He also teaches Scenographic
Studies at University of Wales Aberystwyth.
PERFORMERS
Megan
Brookes
is from Wales. She is the daughter of Mike and Jill. This is the
third water[war]s project she has performed in.
Adriana
Cantor is
from Colombia. She studied drama at Escuela Nacional de Arte Dramatico.
She worked with the oldest Colombia Theatre group La Candelaria
for more than five years. She also performed in the Water [war]s
5 with the director Jill Greenhalgh.
Carmen
Gomer Bandera
is from Spain. She is attending Superior School of Dramatic Art
as a graduate student and holds a Ph.D. in Spanish Philology with
a research and study about "Semiotics of the Space on Stage."
She is also a member of a theatre company "El Norte de Venus."
Eduardo Flores is from Mexico. He is
a performance and video artist. He is a member of artistic group
"Colaboratorio de arte publico." He has published articles
in International Scenic Arts magazines.
Margarita Borja is from Spain.
She is a playwright and director of the Sorambulas Theatre.
Since 1996, she coordinates the Lbero American Women Meetings in
the Performing Arts. Recently, she has published a book of
poems called Lael's River.
Shayoni Mitra is from India. She holds
a masters degree in English from St. Stephen's College Delhi University.
She has been a member of the street theatre group Jana Natya Manch,
for the past few years. She is currently a graduate student at the
department of Performance Studies, Tisch School of the Arts NYU.
Yaneth Mesias is from Colombia. She
is an actress and a dancer.She has been working for six years with
the group deTeatro la Mascara in Colombia. She performed in the
Water [war]s 5 with the director Jill Greenhalgh
YoungSoon Kim is from Korea. She is
attending Tisch School of the Arts (M.A) at NYU. She also got a
B.A. in Theatre and Media Arts from Brigham Young University.
