The Greatest Anti-War
Show on Earth A multi-media theatre happening inspired by 9.11.01 with
international performers from The Gambia, Russia, Switzerland, Haiti,
USA & elsewhere. Conceived by Galinsky and The Bohdi Tree Theatre Company
(BTTC) With Christopher Stackhouse At St. Mark's Poetry Project, St.
Mark's Church 131 E. 10th St. at 2nd Ave NYC Friday March 8, 2002, 10pm
($7 adults, $4 students)
A suspicious piece
of luggage rumbles from the inside; the "TeleTwin Towers" loop a multi-monitored
digital testimony of life; two stilt walkers dance awash projections
of a still standing World Trade Center; Cat Stevens is interpreted through
dance forms from The Gambia; the national anthem resonates from the
electro magnetic sounds of a theramin; Pink Floyd's "Blue Skies" become
pixilated while Big Brother's Bigger Brother monitors everything on
short-wave and broadband; this is just a brief glimpse of the rich multi-media
theatrical scope showcased in The Bodhi Tree Theatre Company's New York
premiere of: "POWs: the greatest anti-war show on earth". Celebrating
its inaugural season, the Bohdi Tree Theatre Company bounds onto the
New York City theatre/media scene creating one of the most important
artistic events of the season. For performance and media devotees, "POWs..."
offers a incomparable opportunity to see how today's artists are processing
the post 911 mentality of war and the personal rights issues that go
along with it. The quality of this collective attests to the vibrancy
and talent of resistance oriented works being produced in New York City
today. Presented by BTTC in association with St. Mark's Poetry Project
at the St. Mark's Church, the "The POWs..." features over fifteen of
the most interesting performing and multi-media artists: Feedbuck Galore
Inc., Kadiatou Sibi, Disney NASA Borg, ..... All of these individuals
and groups are premiering their newest works at St. Mark's Poetry Project
(131 9th Street at 1st Avenue) on Friday March 8, 2002, at 10pm. POWS:

An Open Call for
Ephemeral Art from NewTown Concept & Disciplines NewTown is working
on a show based on the concept of ephemeral art ... art which, by nature
of its materials, processes upon those materials or interaction of materials,
alters over the course of time. By extension, we are also interested
in static works reflecting the idea of ephemerality, though these will
be curated far more closely than those actually changing over the course
of the show. The show will be up for four weeks and include an opening
and/or closing event which can accommodate shorter term art, including
performance and sound/music works. The show will be documented before
its opening. That documentation and possibly time lapse imagery of the
show will be a part of the closing event. All arts disciplines have
examples of ephemeral art. In addition to visual art, we want music
and other sonic art, media, performance and new genres as yet unnamed.
Show Dates May 18
through June 16, 2002 Show Location The Armory Center for the Arts'
temporary space on North Fair Oaks in Pasadena.
The show will occupy
half of the gallery space. It is an industrial building, nto a "white
waller". Artists' Fees NewTown always pays artists as much as we possibly
can. We will have to see what ideas and proposals comes in to know what
the fees will be. We try to assure that no one loses money on their
art (that's icky!!). How to Apply Although we are not sticklers on proposal
format, we do get irritable if we have to guess the artist's intent.
The following items are suggested, but you are free to send the proposal
in whatever format you feel best represents your work. BUT, please,
however you choose to present yourself and your work, be clear and not
too verbose. Please, do not staple or bind your propsal 1. Something
that clearly describes your work. That could include any of the following
or other materials you feel show your idea to best advantage. Sketch
or other visual representation Written description Video tape
or 16mm film CDs, audio cassettes 2. A brief statement on how
the work meets the criteria of ephemera as outlined above. If you feel
this is self-evident, you can omit this, but please be sure the relationship
between materials and their transformation over time is very clear.
3. A brief biography or resume. 4. Documentation of previous work, focusing
on work relevant to the show's theme. If this is a new venture for you,
don't be discouraged. Just send us work you feel demonstrates aesthetic
quality and ability to complete work. Please limit your documentation
to no more than two of the folloowing. 5. Contact info. Your street
address, eMail address and phone number up to 8 slides, clearly labeled
(if stick-on labels used, please be sure they are firmly afixed)
up to 8 stills, clearly labeled up to 4 digital images sent via
eMail VHS tape cued to a section you want us to see 16mm film
other means at your discretion IF YOU WANT YOUR WORK RETURNED,

'eel' is an opportunity
for emerging and established artists, whose work includes performance,
video, film, sound, animation and other time-based or live arts practise,
to present new works, in a series of events happening throughout the
year. Since November 2000, there have been four events at The Rhythm
Factory, a sizeable club venue, and restaurant on Whitechapel Road.
These have generated a lot of interest, attracting audiences of between
150-250. The work is mainly chosen from proposals, though we also make
invitations to various artists. We do not receive any funding at the
moment, so some of the cost for equipment hire, and publicity is covered
by charging the audience a nominal entrance fee. Proposal submissions
If you would like to submit a proposal, please include a statement about
the work, its presentation, technical specifications, visual or audio
documentation, and a brief C.V. This should be sent to 'eel' 25 Midhope
House, Midhope Street, London WC1H 8HJ The next eel takes place Thursday
21 March, The Rhythm Factory, 16-18 Whitechapel Rd, London E.1 7.30pm

Call for Performances
Place: Denmark Date

Dear all, now I
mail you in quite a different purpose...and then it is about performance,
of course! In 2005 it is the 200 year birthday of the tale writer H.C.Andersen
in Odense. Every year from now Odense will celebrate him on his birthday
April 2 - For that purpose I am asking you if anybody of you have an
H.C.Andersen-related performance idea? To one of his many fairy tales
(eg. The Princess and the Pea, the Ugly Duckling , The Little Mermaid
(totally 172 fairy tales. - look at http://www.hca.gilead.org http://www.kb.dk
http://www.andersen.sdu.dk - http://www.hcandersen.subnet.dk for more
information). Or a performance idea related to his life which was in
itself a fairy -tale (born by very poor parents in Odense - and fullfills
the American dream?) Of course you are paid (travel. accomodation, fee
etc). I am looking forward to hearing from you, with many greetings
Else Jespersen info@performance-festival-odense.dk P.S. if you know
other persons interested in H.C.Andersen, please tell me and make contact
to me, thank you.
